June 28 Lee, MA (Inside/Out Stage, Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival)
June 29 - July 3 New York (A Dance Experience)
Five exceptionally talented young dancers, ages 14-18, auditioned and were selected to represent the NORD/NOBA Center for Dance on tour from California to New York. These students will took classes, visited universities, performed, and attended performances. This talened ensemble served as ambassadors for the city as dedicated and hopeful teens with extradordinary talent for more than 7 years.
For 15 years, the NORD/NOBA Center For Dance, a nationally award-winning, cultural, community partnership of the New Orleans Recreation Department and the New Orleans Ballet Association, has reached more than 6,000 children with free after-school instruction. June 2007 marks an exciting opportunity to showcase our youth nationwide with special invitations to perform the National Dance Education Organization conference in Mobile, performances in Los Angeles and New York. We Have also been invited to perform at the prestigious Jacob's Pillow in Massachusetts - home of America's longest running festival, now in its 75th year. Participants apply annually and are selected among dance companies worldwide to perform on the Jacob's Pillow Inside/Out Stage. This tour will provide six exceptional young people, three professional dancers, and two professional musicians with a significant opportunity that will bring positive exposure to our community.
