2017 SUMMER INTENSIVES
Audition on March 10 for Ages 12-18!

The headlining July Daytime Intensive (July 12 - August 1), open by audition to ages 12-18, will feature Artistic Director Ronald K. Brown (of Ronald K. Brown/EVIDENCE) plus artists from Complexions Contemporary Ballet!

AUDITION GUIDELINES AND INFORMATION
•Students under the age of 18 MUST be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian during registration.

•Registration forms will be available upon arrival.

•It is recommended that students have a minimum of two years of ballet training.

•There are no fees for auditioning or for tuition. Registration & supply fees vary per summer intensive program, and scholarships are available for accepted students via an application process – financial documentation required.

•To audition on March 10, students must be no younger than 12 and no older than 18 years of age by June 1, 2017.

•Students must arrive in proper dress to audition: Females - black leotard, pink tights (convertible to bare feet for modern), and pink ballet shoes, with hair pulled back in a neat bun. No jewelry or warm ups. Students currently studying pointe and at least 11 years old are asked to bring pointe shoes for possible pointe work during the audition.
Males - black athletic pants and athletic undergarments, white t-shirt, and black ballet shoes.

•Students must have completed registration by the audition start time – no late arrivals will be considered.

•Audition slots vary but will consist of a combination of any of the following items: ballet barre, center work in ballet and modern technique, repertory sequences. Some pointe work may be required for pointe students ages 11 and up.

•Students are placed in the appropriate summer program and classes based on age, audition performance, and current technical ability at the discretion of NOBA staff only.

•Auditions in person on are preferred. Video auditions are also accepted on a rolling basis through Friday, May 5, 2017. Please see below for video/digital audition requirements.

VIDEO/DIGITAL AUDITION REQUIREMENTS
(Vimeo, Youtube, or other similar online upload platform - physical DVD disks are NOT accepted)
Submit video and photographs to Millette White via e-mail only at mwhite@nobadance.com. Materials will be reviewed by a panel of NOBA staff and faculty. Video/photo applicants will be contacted with results and further instructions on a case by case basis. As a reminder, in person auditions are highly recommended.

Video/digital applicants must submit a two digital photographs, including a headshot and a picture in à la seconde along with their audition video (8 minutes maximum). If the student is unfamiliar with any content listed below, please have them leave it out.

Ballet Barre:
1. Grand plié
2. Tendu and degagé
3. Fondu with developpé in each position
4. Grand battement

Center Ballet Technique:
1. Adagio
2. Pirouettes en dehors & en dedans
3. Piqué turns on diagonal
4. Sauté
5. Assemblé and jeté
6. Grand jeté

Modern Movement Sequence/Combination (if known)

Pointe work:
1. Relevé
2. Passé
3. Échappé
4. Pique turns (ages 13 and up)
5. Pirouette (ages 13 and up)

Men:
1. Two turning combinations
2. Tours en l’air
3. Petit allegro with beats

*Please only perform one side of each exercise.

* Make sure that the entire dancer is visible throughout the video (no close-ups).

*If possible, do not film into the mirror.

CHEVRON SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAMS: Ages 7-12; by audition or invitation only
SESSION 1
May 23 – June 1, Tuesday & Wednesday (Ballet), Thursday (Modern); 6:00-7:15pm
LOCATION: The Chevron Studio, Lyons Rec Center (624 Louisiana Ave.)
•Mandatory for newly placed Bridge Program students; optional for students currently enrolled in 2016-17 Bridge Program
SESSION 2
June 5 – 30, Monday & Wednesday (Ballet), Friday (Modern); 6:00-7:15pm
LOCATION: Stallings St. Claude Rec Center (4300 St. Claude Ave.)
•Open Studio at Stallings St. Claude Rec Center on Friday, June 30, 6:30pm
•Mandatory for all students placed in Summer Bridge Programs


JUNE TEEN EVENING INTENSIVE: Ages 11-18; by audition or invitation only
June 5 – 30, Monday & Wednesday (Ballet), Friday (Modern); 7:15-8:45pm
LOCATION: Stallings St. Claude Rec Center (4300 St. Claude Ave.)
•Open Studio at Stallings St. Claude Rec Center on Friday, June 30, 7:45pm
•Mandatory for all students placed in Summer Bridge Programs


JUNE CHEVRON MASTER ARTIST SERIES EVENING WORKSHOPS: Ages 8-18, by audition or invitation
Three individual Monday-Thursday sessions featuring Chevron Master Artist local and visiting faculty to be announced.
LOCATION: The Chevron Studio, Lyons Rec Center (624 Louisiana Ave.)
June 5 – 8: Evening Workshop #1 with faculty TBA
June 12 – 15: Evening Workshop #2 with faculty TBA
June 19 – 22: Evening Workshop #3 with faculty TBA
June 26 – 29: Evening Workshop #4 with Chanel DaSilva & Maleek Washington
•Each evening workshop is Monday-Thursday, 5:30-8:00pm


JUNE CHEVRON MASTER ARTIST SERIES DAYTIME WORKSHOPS: Ages 12-18, by audition or invitation
Three individual Monday-Friday sessions featuring Chevron Master Artist guest faculty to be announced.
