2018 SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAMS
ABOUT NOBA'S SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAMS
The tuition-free Summer Intensive Programs held in June & July 2018 give motivated students ages 8-18 the opportunities to study with an exceptional faculty of visiting and local artists. Guest faculty & artists from the legendary Dance Theatre of Harlem will be featured as part of the July 11-31 Intensive! Past guest artists have represented Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Complexions Contemporary Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Limón Dance Company and many more. Several different Intensives are offered by audition for multiple age and ability levels. NOBA will also be recruiting for the 2018-2019 Pre-Professional Program during the Summer Intensive Programs.



*FEES AND FINANCIAL NEED-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS:
There are no audition or tuition fees. Registration and supply fees vary per program. Financial need-based scholarships are available for accepted students via an application process – financial documentation will be required for consideration.

ABOUT DANCE THEATRE OF HARLEM
Now a singular presence in the ballet world, the Dance Theatre of Harlem Company tours nationally and internationally, presenting a powerful vision for ballet in the 21st century. The multi-ethnic company performs a forward-thinking repertoire that includes treasured classics, neoclassical works by George Balanchine and resident choreographer Robert Garland, as well as innovative contemporary works that use the language of ballet to celebrate African American culture. Through performances, community engagement and arts education, the Company carries forward Dance Theatre of Harlem’s message of empowerment through the arts for all.

SUMMER INTENSIVE PROGRAMS INFORMATION
•There are no fees for auditioning or for tuition. Registration & supply fees vary per summer intensive program, and financial need-based scholarships are available for accepted students via an application process – financial and income documentation will be required to apply for financial need-based scholarships.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER THE JANUARY 26th AUDITIONS:
Audition results will ONLY be sent to PRIMARY E-MAIL ADDRESS listed on the student’s audition packet by the end of February 2018. Post-audition feedback will not be available. If accepted, students MUST be able to attend all classes, rehearsals, activities, and culminating performances within respective Summer Intensive(s) to register. Students accepted into the July Daytime Intensive MUST register for and participate in at least one full session during June (attending pointe classes in June alone will not suffice) to be eligible to register for and participate in the July Daytime Intensive.

CHEVRON SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAMS: Ages 8-12; by audition or invitation
SESSION 1: Two-Week Intensive
LOCATION: The Chevron Studio, Lyons Rec Center (624 Louisiana Ave.)
May 22 – 31, Tuesday & Wednesday, 6:00-7:15pm (Ballet); Thursday, 6:00-7:15pm (Modern, Brazilian, or West African)
•Mandatory for newly placed Bridge Program students; optional for students currently enrolled in 2017-18 Bridge Program
SESSION 2: Four-Week Intensive
LOCATIONS: Stallings St. Claude Rec Center (4300 St. Claude Ave.) AND Tulane's Elleonora P. McWilliams Hall, 3rd Floor Dance Studios
June 4 – 29, Monday & Wednesdays at Stallings Center, 6:00-7:15pm; Fridays at Tulane's McWilliams Hall, 6:00-7:15pm; Open Studio at Tulane's McWilliams Hall on Friday, June 29, 6:30pm
•Mandatory for all students placed in Summer Bridge Programs

JUNE CHEVRON MASTER ARTIST EVENING SERIES: Ages 8-18, by audition or invitation

Four individual Monday-Thursday sessions
June 4 – 7: Evening Workshop #1 featuring local faculty plus visiting instructor(s) to be announced
June 11 – 14: Evening Workshop #2 with local faculty plus visiting instructor(s) to be announced
June 18 – 21: Evening Workshop #3 with local faculty plus visiting instructor(s) to be announced
June 25 – 28: Evening Workshop #4 with local faculty plus visiting instructor(s) to be announced
•Each evening workshop is Monday-Thursday, 5:30-8:00pm (technique class + choreography/repertory)

•Week 1: Wednesday, July 11 – Friday, July 13, 9:00am-4:00pm

IMPORTANT NOTE: Students accepted into the July Daytime Intensive MUST register for and participate in at least one or more full session(s) during June to be eligible to register for and participate in the July Daytime Intensive. Exceptions may be made on a case by case basis and at the discretion of NOBA only.

JULY EVENING INTENSIVE: Ages 8-18, by audition or invitation only
LOCATION: Elleonora P. McWilliams Hall, 3rd Floor Dance Studios, Tulane University
July 9 – 26 Featuring local faculty as well as master classes by visiting artists from Dance Theatre of Harlem plus other guest instructor(s) TBA!
•Monday – Thursday, 5:45-7:15pm (Group 1) or 7:15-8:45pm (Group 2) depending on placement
•Combined Studio Showcase Thursday, July 26 at 6:30pm
