From the BRAVO President
During the past season the New Orleans Ballet Association celebrated 40 glorious years! As we remember the wonderful performances and achievements of the past, we are energized with thoughts and plans for many more successful years to come. It is indeed an honor to serve as President of BRAVO for the coming year!
The Ballet Resource and Volunteer Organization (BRAVO) is exactly that…the resource for volunteers for the New Orleans Ballet Association. As members we are committed to giving our time and talents to support the events and community education programs of NOBA through various fundraising activities. We like to think of our fundraisers as “FUNraising” events! By joining BRAVO you will receive invitations to our meetings and information about our exciting FUNraisers scheduled in the coming year.
Our membership is our strength. Please join today! Memberships are $35(single), $50 (couple) or $100 (supporting member) and can be purchased by calling the NOBA office for further information.

BRAVO GALA 2012
A Moment in Time

The Ballet Resource And Volunteer Organization of the New Orleans Ballet Association is excited to host this year’s gala, A Moment in Time, to honor the significance of April 21, 2012, when two of the world’s most beloved and celebrated artists, Desmond Richardson and Wendy Whelan, will create a magical moment in dance history as they perform together for the first time. The NOBA commissioned world premiere will be created by choreographer Dwight Rhoden and set to the music of New Orleans' own Nicholas Payton, whose quartet will perform with the duo. A Moment in Time Gala will feature three spectacular evenings, including a Benefactor Dinner at the elegant Windsor Court Hotel on March 28, the Gala evening with the artists on April 20 in the breath-taking Ile de France Ballroom at the JW Marriott, and the performance of Complexions Contemporary Ballet, featuring the new work, on April 21 at Mahalia Jackson Theater. Attendees of all of the A Moment in Time events can expect more of the luxurious treatment that has earned BRAVO’s galas the reputation of creative, fun, and exclusive with delicious cuisine, champagne and cocktails, music, dancing, and an auction of select items.
Benefactors will enjoy a magical evening at the Benefactor Dinner on March 28 at the Windsor Court Hotel. Chaired by Gregory Curtis and Jacquee Carvin, this grand seated dinner has already created much excitement. Benefactors will receive an exquisite Benefactor gift by Lee Michael’s Fine Jewelry. There will be limited seating for only one hundred guests, and we recommend that those purchasing Benefactor tickets do so in a timely manner to reserve a seat. We extend our most humble thanks to David Teich, General Manager of the Windsor Court Hotel, and Scott Berg, of Lee Michael’s Fine Jewelry, for their amazing gifts to BRAVO. The Patron Party will be held before the gala at the JW Marriott and will feature specialty cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, and a preview of the silent auction items. Other exciting events include an exclusive intermission wine reception at the performance, post-performance champagne reception with the artists at the exquisite St. Charles Avenue home of John W. Houghtaling, II, and other surprises.
